(Un)fortunately, 75% of 2020 is now in the past, and we are here to look back at the latest quarter and what it has brought.

DeFi mania replaced the ICO hype, which positively impacted the price of Ethereum. However, despite the positive upward movement, ETH stays still way below its ATH from Q1 of 2018 ($1,448) and currently sits at ~$350 per coin.

Ethereum transactions are currently at their highest levels, mainly due to decentralized exchanges such as Uniswap.

The market leader, Bitcoin, has shown predominantly bullish movements throughout Q3, and importantly, correlated with the movements of the stock market more than ever before.

This is an important factor, which made us reconsider our BTC holdings in our portfolio, and why we have increased our hedge position in USDT.

During the past quarter, we witnessed many subpar projects being pumped and dumped, which suggests heavy market manipulation by not only bad actors and organized trading groups, but also traders themselves, seeking out get-rich-quick schemes. Projects like SUSHI rode the defi-wave, reaching up to 10x returns, followed by a 90% drop in value just few days later, once the creator sold off all of his tokens. All of this activity takes place “behind the scenes” on decentralized exchanges, such as Uniswap.
